  • 1997
    The Establishment

    The scientific and productive organisation «Lactol» was founded in August, 1997, in Odessa with the aim to provide the dairy industry with the information services and solutions which would meet the requirements of market economy in the 1990s.

    The company «Lactol» was the first Ukrainian startup in the milk-processing industry, which worked out, elaborated and developed the innovative concept of the production of dairy products with the prolonged shelf-life.

    The key criteria of success of this concept was effective combination of the main principles of the hurdle technologies and cooperation of the practitioners of the «Lactol» with the global Danish concern Chr. Hansen.

    Taking into consideration the Ukrainian food habits, the appropriate determination of the barriers in the production processes of various kinds of dairy products and the usage of DVS (Direct Vat Set) starter cultures provided by Chr. Hansen were the revolutionary technological solutions in the dairy industry which allowed to set up the  production of dairy products of new generation with the prolonged shelf-life. Drinking pasteurised milk «Ukrains’ke», kefir, fermented baked milk (riazhanka), sour cream, cottage cheese, yogurt and others be on this list of products.

    The LLC «Lactol» is an official distributor of Chr. Hansen in Ukraine since November, 1998.

    In 1998 the practitioners of the «Lactol» launched and implemented the business project «Bio-products» which brought the new dairy products such as «Bio-kefir», «Bio-yogurt», «Bio-sour cream», «Bio-fermented baked milk» and others which are very popular and beloved by consumers to the Ukrainian market. The major distinctive feature of these products in comparison with traditional ones was that ready-made products contained high concentration of probiotic cultures La-5® (Lactobaccillus acidophillus) and BB-12® (Bacterium bifidus), which had positive impact on the health of children, adults and elderly people. The above mentioned effects were proved by medical-biological researches in the Dmitry F. Chebotarev Institute of Gerontology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

    In addition to the introduction of the dairy products with a long-shelf life, the specialists of the LLC "Lactol" proposed a number of the innovative solutions for the cheese production, which helped to improve the quality of local cheeses, optimize and increase the efficiency of their production. The new types of sour milk cheese, Philadelphia cream cheese, Feta soft cheese and hard cheeses (Radomer, Gouda, Edam, Myslyvsky), which are well known to the Ukrainian consumers today, were launched on the market.

    In total, in the period from 1998 to 2003, LLC "Lactol" developed 38 new regulatory and technical documentations for the dairy industry (TUU 15.52502734-001-038), most of which have been introduced into the production and are still relevant today. Since its establishment, the LLC "Lactol" has been actively involved in the educational activities and training of the dairy workers.

    The annual International Scientific and Practical Seminar «The Dairy Industry Innovations»

    The annual International Scientific and Practical Seminar «The Dairy Industry Innovations» was held in the period from 1998 to 2004. The leading global companies such as CHR.HANSEN (Denmark), TETRA PAK (Sweden), OBRAM (Poland), SUPERIOR ( Poland), APV (Denmark), VZDUHOTECNIKA (Slovakia), AGRANA (France), TREPKO (Denmark), AGROHANSA (Poland), LUST-PASK (Poland), ECOLAB (USA) and many others took part in the work of this seminar.

  • The scientific and practical journal «The Dairy Industry»

    The scientific and practical journal «The Dairy Industry»

    In 2002, the LLC "Lactol" founded the first Ukrainian scientific and practical journal «The Dairy Industry», which was published until 2006. This journal performed the function of operational information support for the dairy industry during its transformation and development in the new market conditions.

  • 2008
    The main office of LLC "Lactol" moved to Kyiv

    After the opening of the Ukrainian subsidiary «Chr. Hansen Ukraine», the main office of LLC "Lactol" moved to Kyiv, and in 2008 it started its work as LLC «Lactol International». The field of activities of LLC «Lactol International», apart from the dairy industry, has been significantly expanded. At present, LLC «Lactol International» also cooperates with the enterprises in the meat, confectionery, juice, non-alcoholic and wine industries of Ukraine.

  • 2020
    «Lactol International» has resumed the work of the scientific and practical seminar «The Dairy Industry Innovations»

    Since 2020, the LLC «Lactol International» has resumed the work of the scientific and practical seminar «The Dairy Industry Innovations» due to the large number of requests from the dairy industry professionals. 

    LLC «Lactol International» is not only the supplier of Chr. Hansen ingredients for the agro-processing complex, but it is the company that offers and implements the innovative solutions in the production of a wide range of natural, high-quality and safe healthy food products.

OUR HISTORY

Educational and scientific activity

The results of the activities of the "Lactol International" were published in the scientific works of the Odessa National Academy of Food Technologies, Kharkiv State University of Food Technology and Trade, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, scientific and practical journal «The Dairy Industry», abstracts of the 8th Congress of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (Ireland, 2015) and in the materials of several international scientific journals and conferences.
